Abigail's Stitches

On the 18th of October Abigail went to take out the garbage. Without us knowing, there was broken glass in the bag. One swipe and she was sliced. I took one look at it, and new we had to endure another ER visit. Luckily this time, the list for stitches was short and we were in and out in less than 2 hours. But her wound however, lasted for several weeks. As you can see in the pictures at the end there is tape on her wound. The ER doctors decided to glue her cut, yes glue it and then put some tape on it to help hold the skin together. Then they put on a band aid. They told us to keep it dry for about 3 days. Well that night she was bleeding through bandages again, and by morning we could see that her wound was open. So I called out family doctor and they fit her in, in the afternoon. He said the the glue has to have nothing on it. And your skin naturally sweats when something is on it. So the tape caused sweating, which made the glue dissolve. The doctor said the ER doctors should know that and if they had to tape it to help keep it closed, they should have known that glue wasn't the right option. So the nurse cleaned it again and put on more bandages. So the wound had to heal on its on and took quite awhile. A boy at school even kicked her ankle on purpose on 2 different occasions, causing it to reopen. It was a painful long ordeal, thanks to the ER doctors who decide to take the fast easy and might I add wrong way to put her skin back together.

before ER

waiting for the ER doctors

hoping for no stiches.

After being cleaned

more waiting

yeah no stitches. Little did we know that if they just did the stitches, she could have been saved a lot of pain.

the tape and band aid the doctors put on her.
